Prepared with care and patience from vine to bottle. Each vintage revealing rich complexity and balance.

McArthur Ridge is a story of passion and place. Born of resilience with a deep connection to the land, our vineyard has grown and flourished in the beauty of Central Otago.
McArthur Ridge begins its wine journey with an initial planting of 15 hectares of vines. This monumental moment laid the foundation for what would soon become one of Central Otago's prominant vineyards.

An additional 72 hectares are planted, marking a significant expansion and commitment to producing quality wine.

The vineyard continues to grow with 73 more hectares planted, bringing the total to 160 hectares, solidifying its presence in the region.

After years of careful cultivation, McArthur Ridge releases its first vintage, showcasing terroir of the Alexandra Valley.

The vineyard reaches capacity with 15 final hectares planted, completing the development of the land.

With 175 hectares of thriving vines, McArthur Ridge stands as a testament to patience and passion, producing a selection of award-winning wines that capture the essence of Central Otago.

With international experience including the USA and Australia, the Vintages produced since arriving at McArthur Ridge Wines have earned Matt multiple accolades including winning New Zealand Red Wine of Show and Pinot Noir Trophy at IWC London as well as topping them all with Winemaker of Show at the NZIWS in 2021.

With a wealth of experience in vineyard management and a deep connection to the land, Murray orchestrates the cultivation of grapes that embody the unique terroir of Central Otago. From organising staffing to overseeing day-to-day operations, his astute leadership ensures the seamless execution of viticultural practices.

Each harvest season, McArthur Ridge partners with a dedicated family from Samoa who travel to Central Otago to support our team. Their seasonal work is vital to the success of our vintage, and over the years, they’ve become an important part of our extended vineyard family. Their experience, care, and commitment play a key role in bringing our wines to life, reflecting the people behind the process as much as the land itself.
